Barretts May juvenile sale catalog now online


The catalog for the Barretts May sale of 2-year-olds in training is now available on the sales company’s website, featuring a larger book of 142 entries.

The one-day sale will be held May 13 at Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif., beginning at 3 p.m. Pacific. The pre-sale under-tack show will be held May 10, beginning at 10 a.m.

This year’s Barretts May catalog is 15 percent larger than last year’s book, which cataloged 124 juveniles.

Last year’s May sale saw impressive gains across the economic indicators, with 69 horses sold for total revenues of $2,986,500, a 12 percent rise compared with the 2011 sale. The average sale price rose 19 percent to $43,283, while the median price of $23,000 was a 15 percent improvement.

The highest-priced horse was Battled, a Master Command colt out of the Salt Lake mare Grinch, who sold to Brett Lindenbaum for $300,000. He was consigned by Wavertree Stables, agent.
