Baltimore Bob withstood two challenges in deep stretch, one by Frisky Thunder at the eighth pole and the second by fast-closing Vanquisher right at the wire, to prevail by a head in Saturday's $50,00 Da Hoss Stakes at Colonial Downs. A winner of the Henry Clark Stakes at Pimlico two starts ago, the 5-year-old Baltimore Bob overcame starting from the far outside in post 10 in the one-mile Da Hoss. He made a four-wide move into the stretch to seemingly take command in midstretch. Frisky Thunder got within a head of the lead with a furlong remaining, but Baltimore Bob repelled his challenge. Then, Vanquisher, who was fifth at the eighth pole, made up nearly 5 1/2 lengths, only to fall short by a head at the wire. Baltimore Bob, trained by John Secor, covered the mile on firm turf in 1:35.48 while winning for the eighth time in 25 starts.
