Balmoral: Wednesday 6/5 Analysis

Race 7 - $20,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (30 - 56 / $102.80): CLEVER UPSTART (6TH)

Race 1

(7) BELL VALLEY ART makes his second start back off a long layoff in a weak field.  Five-year-old showed a good late burst last out and should be sharper.  (1) TANGIBLE HOPE has just been racing evenly but draws the rail in a very suspect field.  (8) RING A DING DONG has the most upside in the race but has some breaking issues; threat.

Race 2

(3) ITZ ALIVE gets a good drop in class and faces much softer.  (4) GRC TRAVEL KING came up empty last out but is also dropping in class; needs a trip.  (6) FALL CREEK BANDIT got picked off late after being used aggressively.  Four-year-old should be sitting on a good effort third start back.

Race 3

The well-bred (9) FULL SERVICE was a game winner last out and faces a similar field.  (8) MYSTICAL VAL made a miscue last out after racing gamely prior.  Four-year-old is saddled with a bad post but should be considered a threat in an inconsistent field.  (1) SIX EASY HOTSPUR draws the rail and looks to be in line for a great trip.

Race 4

Nice looking three-year-old filly, (3) MARY‘S LAW is just learning how to race. She gets a good post and should show improvement in her fourth start of the year.  (9) FASHION GLIDE makes her sophomore debut after showing some promise last year.  Filly should offer a big price and will be firing late.  Lightly raced (10) HIGHLY ELEGANT makes her third start back off a long layoff and has a lot of upside despite being saddled with the worst post.

Race 5

(5) FOX VALLEY ANDY put in a sterling debut just missing after following poor cover; primed for a big effort.  (7) NEWS IN PLACE also just missed last out after kicking off cover nicely; big chance.  (6) IMPERSONAL had a disappointing effort off a great trip and would need more; use underneath.

Race 6

(6) CLEVER UPSTART takes a big drop in class and has been razor sharp.  (8) HITITHARD was flying late last out against a better field; versatile.  (7) MAD COW LISA also drops and has been racing gamely; could hit the ticket with a good trip.

Race 7

You can put a line through (1) KISS ON THE LIPS’ last start, because she was taken completely out of the race by her entry mate who backed through the field.  Three-year-old is very talented and should offer a nice price.  (8) MY MARISA CLAIR is pacing faster than most of the field. She could use honest fractions up front to close into for her best chance.  (2) MJ’S SISTA has just been racing evenly after taking heavy tote action in her last few.  Three-year-old does get the best post in a race with few contenders; command a price.

Race 8

(5) PROSPER hasn’t shown much consistency but her last effort was stellar; threat.  (3) WALKINTHEMOONLITE has the most speed off the gate but would need more late.  (4) DAGOTA put in a much better effort after being empty in her prior starts.  Four-year-old mare just needs a good effort to be right there on the wire.

Race 9

(7) NIGHT’S ALL NIGHT was used aggressively last out and held on gamely; driver’s choice.  (2) SHES ASTREOS put in a super effort last out going wire to wire from the ten-hole and would be a huge threat with a repeat of that effort.  (1) HOOSIER JETTA went a tough trip first up last out but draws the rail and has been racing gamely.

Race 10

In a wide open field, (4) LARRY’S PLACE has been firing late and gets a good post.   (1) ROCKET DOG never got into the mile last out but had been sharp prior; threat.  (5) MICHAEL’S JEWEL is a well bred gelding that has one good move; needs a good trip to be in the money.
