Balmoral: Sunday 6/8 Analysis

Race 7 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (18 - 30 / $76.80): SANDCASTLE GIRL (1st)

Spot Play: JD’S ECHO (10th)

Race 1

(1) SANDCASTLE GIRL raced well in her debut, gets the best post and will be trying to hit the top spot.  (7) MATTEE ROYALE just raced evenly in the qualifier but finds an inexperienced field full of question marks. (8) GRACIE ON MY MIND faces older as one of two horses for the trainer in the race.  Watch to see if they are lagged off the gate at the start because they should probably be used underneath in that scenario.

Race 2

(2) GREEN ACRES will offer a big price in a wide open race.  The trotter has some ability if the driver can work out a smooth trip.  (6) POWERFUL FORCE has been much better for her new trainer despite the miscue last start and is probably the horse to beat if she stays trotting.  (1) WE ALL BLEED RED makes her second start back off a long layoff and should show some improvement.

Race 3

In a wide open race on paper, (5) BLACKJACK RIVNDEL will offer a big price and gets a good driver change.  (6) BIRD IN FLIGHT has come a long way for new connections but will probably offer low value and has yet to win on the year.  (9) CONZO has the most upside but a bad starting post.  If the driver can find a way into the race, he should have a shot late.

Race 4

(6) FOX VALLEY IVAN has been racing gamely and faces a weak field.  (4) JO JO SPUR is very competitive in this class and always a threat late with a fast pace.  (5) WESTERN SLAMMER could be the sleeper in the race and has a history of racing better on the big track.

Race 5

(7) LOOKIN‘ AHEAD has a terrible history of breaking.  However if the trotter minds his manners he could win at a good price.  (2) RED ROCKS the connections just scored with one off a layoff at a price; threat.  (6) KEYSTONE SWAGGER has been racing evenly but is a threat in the inconsistent field.

Race 6

(7) FOX VALLEY FLORA flashed ability and makes her third start back off a long layoff.  The sophomore pacer has good closing ability and could use a live outer flow; fires late.  (5) GET THE TERROR didn’t break a sweat last out unleashing a big late kick, but is facing better.  (4) IGETAGOODFEELING tries hard but lacks pop; use underneath.

Race 7

(8) SEEYOUATTHEFINISH’s last race was ultra-impressive.  The field will have a tough time out-kicking her with the same effort.  (6) DALLAS JONES is one of the fastest horses in the race and has a post edge on his main rival.  (1) FOX VALLEY ABSOLUT can pop big miles out of nowhere; threat.

Race 8

(4) CELEBRITY HERCULES raced much better last out after some dull efforts.  The trotter finds a weak field to get back on track; big chance.  (2) FANCY LABEL has a decent move when timed right and should have a chance to hit the ticket at a price.  It is hard to believe a trotter of the caliber of (7) HERE’S JOHNNY is 0-for the year; use underneath.

Race 9

In a tough race to handicap, (7) DREAM ROLL makes her third start back for proven connections and has a nice pedigree. (1) SECONDS LATER raced well last out and should be in line for a similar ground saving trip.  (8) ANYTHING I WANT should also improve some second start back.

Race 10

(4) JD’S ECHO is just now back in racing shape, will offer a huge price, and has been improving with every start this year.  (7) FORTUNE DOR is racing gamely and pacing faster than most of the field.  (9) ACES AGAIN doesn’t look like much on paper but did flash big ability last year at two.
