Balmoral: Saturday 5/3 Analysis

Race 10 - $20,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (11 - 15 / $47.20): JB OUI OUI (6th)

Race 1

In a field with few contenders (8) STAGE STAR has been racing gamely, faces better, but gets a huge trainer change.   (6) ONE LOUD DING mare gets one more shot at the top choice.  Four-year-old lost a few lengths last start getting around a breaker and didn't miss by much.  (2) ARROYA BLUE CHIP looks to make it four straight against the same horses; fires early.

Race 2

(7) ALWAYS A ROMANCE drew away from the field last out and now faces an easier bunch.  (3) CUZIMALEGEND filly comes off a nice qualifier and flashed ability last year.  (2) GRACE AN MERCY gets a good post and should show some improvement third start back.

Race 3

In one of the toughest races on the card to handicap (7) FORTUNE DOR been racing better than his lines indicate and finds a wide-open field.  (9) IM A DAN FOOL just missed last out showing a good burst of speed late.  The pacer is better making one run from the back and could use a fast pace to close into.  (4) HOLY MCMOSES has recently stepped his game up and will be firing early.

Race 4

(2) SHOOTINFORTHESTARS adds lasix for the first time and showed a good burst in his first start off a long layoff.  (3) LUCKY FRONTIER makes his second lifetime start in a weak field off a decent first effort.  (6) SUNSET DREAMER raced better last out but the well-bred gelding has been inconsistent and looks to offer low value in a wide open race.

Race 5

(5) AL'S HAMMERED looks to be unstoppable with another effort like last week.  (4) FORT SILKY the veteran pacer is the only one in the field with an outside shot to upset.  The 8-year-old could try and bottom out the field.  (2) LIFE IS GOOD TODAY has been racing much better this year but is no match for the top two choices.

Race 6

(1) JB OUI OUI was been really good winning two straight.  The 6-year-old trotter has few threats in the race and could look to hit the top early.  (3) POWERFUL SPEED classy trotter has trouble making the gate at the start of the race but if he does he would probably hit the ticket.  (5) EVIL URGES owns some back class but has been lacking stamina late.

Race 7

(7) STATE STREET LIZ was much better last start showing pace on both ends of the mile.  (3) MJ'S LAST DANCE is just now back in racing shape and looks to be ready to roll; threat.  (4) DON'T FLASH ME mare never got into the mile last out but has been sharp; fires late.

Race 8

(8) BUONCAMMINO driver opted elsewhere but the filly pacer has ability if she minds her manners.   (4) FOX VALLEY AMANDA has been racing herself back into shape and should be ready for an aggressive effort.  (1) MOLLY GO LIGHTLY nice looking filly was the driver's choice but does make her first start off a layoff and could need a start.

Race 9

(3) OLD MAN RIVER gelding drops in class off some dull looking lines, however the trainer has been sending out some game winners recently.  (8) REAL OR MAGIC was the driver's choice of three and has been really sharp in his last two; big chance.  (5) STAMPED BY DESIGN should have had more late off the slow fractions last out and now faces much tougher; use underneath.

Race 10

(3) KISS ON THE LIPS is starting to really hit her stride and should offer a nice price in an evenly matched field.  (2) RYLEIGH'S LILLY could be the sleeper in the race coming off a break.  The pacing mare has a big late closing kick with the right trip.  (6) SEEYOUATTHEFINISH just missed last out after hitting the lead to early.  The 4-year-old likes a target to chase and will be firing late.

Race 11

(4) MAJOR MONET got beat by a razor-sharp opponent last out.  The gelding owns all the back class and will be driven aggressively.  (3) BRIEF'S BOY takes a big drop in class but the driver hasn't clicked with the pacer yet.  The gelding has beat this field before and should offer a great price.  (6) BEST MAN HANOVER was a tad disappointing last out getting ran at early.  The gelding needs a much better effort to hit the top spot.

Race 12

(5) SHISWELL'S DELIGHT raced evenly last out but was sharp the starts prior.  A repeat of his first couple of efforts makes him a threat.  (2) BLUE TRUTH gelding has upside, put in a decent first start off a layoff, but does face older.  (10) ALWAYS A FIGHTER came up empty last out after being full of pace.  He needs to find a way into the race and might float for position.

Race 13

(7) JERSEY SHORE has been improving and faces a much easier group than his last start.  (1) DIFFERENCE MAKER makes his second start in a red hot barn and draws the best post.  (4) PERFORMING NIGHTLY well-bred gelding makes his first start off a decent; use underneath.
