Balmoral: Saturday 12/28 Analysis

Race 10 - $20,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (61 - 131 / $216.20): UNCLE BUD (10th)

Spot Play: MORTAL COMBAT (12th)

Race 1

In a very tough race to handicap (4) CAMWISER put in a super effort at Maywood last race up in class and now drops down to the bottom level.  (8) HISTERIO never got into the mile and probably needed the start last out.  The 8-year-old pacer gets sent out for a hot trainer.  (3) FIVE COUGARS also put in a big effort last out where he was three wide at the half and still got the victory, however he doesn't race his best at Balmoral; command a price.

Race 2

(2) EXTRAVAGANT ART 3-year-old faces older but has shown he belongs.  The pacer draws the rail and has been getting better with each start.  (6) ICE SCRAPER is a huge threat if he gets an easy uncontested lead.  (3) LUCKY JET has been much sharper with the added lasix but this appears to be a tougher group.

Race 3

(6) JUST ONE DANCE lightly raced 3-yr-old pacer had a ton of pace late last out and has already flashed some ability in just three lifetime starts.  (8) WINGS 5-year-old pacer raced gamely to a very nice opponent last start.  The mare looks tough to beat on paper and will probably be a short price.  (5) INDY ROCKER GIRL really went a tough trip last race and just needs a smooth trip for a piece.

Race 4

(6) CATMANDO does come off a scratch but has dominated this class recently if he's ready.  (1) ROCKME AMADEOUS didn't miss by much last out and now gets the best post.  (5) DIAL A DRAGON owns only one win on the year but could hit the ticket underneath at a price.

Race 5

(7) HEZUPTOSUMTHIN put in a big effort last race at a huge price and finds a very inconsistent field; threat.  (1) ALEQUASH HOTSPUR didn't really fire last start but he was far back early.  The sophomore pacer faces older but could be in line for a decent trip.  (8) ONE LAST CHANCE when the pacer is right he can go some big miles and any kind of repeat of that last effort could make him a winner.

Race 6

(4) ANTS INER PANTS finds a good spot to do some damage and will probably be involved early; big chance.  (9) HERE'S JOHNNY has really raced big every start except for one since he's been at the track.  The well-bred colt will be blasting off the gate and just needs a breather up front to be very dangerous.  (8) MY MUSCLEMAN fits the class well but would need a perfect steer from the provisional driver to be there on the wire; use underneath.

Race 7

(9) BRIEF'S BOY tough to bet against anything the trainer is sending out and the 4-yr-old pacer has been razor sharp.  (10) WESTERN DEAL could be the only threat to the top choice and might be able to get some separation early.  (5) RA RA STEVEN comes off a scratch but has been right there on the wire against this group in his last three.

Race 8

(9) SECTIONLINE YANKEE put in a real nice effort first start off a layoff flashing a nice late kick.  If the classy pacer is ready she's the best in the field by far.  (3) CHLOE HALL just like last week it's just a matter of whether the pacer stays sound.  Try and get a look in warm-ups or the post parade to see how the mare is getting over the track.  If she looks good she will probably run in the money. (5) KATE THE GREAT mare drops down to a level where she can be competitive and really has a good late kick with the right setup.

Race 9

(1) BEST MAN HANOVER takes a big drop in class, draws the rail, and when right would pace away from the field.  However the well-bred 5-year-old is probably a play against on anything but a fast track.  (4) PARK LANE DEPUTY went a good effort last out racing gamely but the 7-year-old stallion rarely wins anymore; use underneath.  (8) FIRSTCLASSALLTHWAY is also dropping and can pace some big miles from time to time.

Race 10

In a wide open race on paper (6) UNCLE BUD should offer the right price and has the ability to pace up a storm late.  (7) FASHION DELIGHT gelding was an easy winner in this class last time he was at this level and drops out of the invite; short price.  (2) STAMPED BY DESIGN is one of the sharpest horses in the race and should get a nice spot up front.

Race 11

(4) FOX VALLEY TOUCHE races much better when forwardly placed and has the most back class in the field.  (7) MUY CALIENTE is facing significantly less but the pacer seems to race to her competition a lot; command a price.  (9) BABE'S CHIP should offer a big price and went a huge effort last out from an impossible spot.

Race 12

(6) MORTAL COMBAT has good closing ability and just needs some racing luck to upset.  (3) SHADY MAPLE BULLET just raced evenly last out after being on a nice roll.  The pacer will look to rebound and might try and fire early.  (5) UPBYFIVE has really been consistently pacing good miles and is very versatile.

Race 13

(8) AGOOD TIME TO ROCK raced gamely after blasting from a tough post last out.  The 3-yr-old finds an inconsistent field and is one of the main threats.  (1) ROCKIN GLORY was racing better last out before making a miscue.  The pacer gets a good post and has the ability despite only one win on the year.  (4) SHISWELL'S DELIGHT has really regressed and is a tough play on top but does find a weak field; use underneath.
