OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Trainer Charlton Baker on Sunday was to begin serving a 10-day suspension for the finding of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Flunixin, also known as Banamine, in the post-race sample of Daufuskie Island who won the third race at Aqueduct on Oct. 7, 2022. Flunixin is typically used for the short-term treatment of moderate pain and inflammation. Baker, who waived his right of appeal, will be suspended through March 14. Thus, Baker could not enter horses in his name on March 15 for the card of March 18. Daufuskie Island was disqualified from any part of the purse and owners Monte Gelrod and James Johnston had to forfeit the $24,750 first-place purse money.
