Bailey gallops at Calder

Jerry Bailey galloped several horses at Calder Race Course in Miami on Wednesday morning, the first time the Hall of Fame jockey has been back to the track since suffering a fractured wrist five weeks earlier. He was injured while putting up storm shutters at his home in anticipation of Hurricane Frances.

Bailey, who owns a home less than 20 minutes from Calder, galloped horses for trainer Eddie Plesa Jr., according to Bailey's agent, Ron Anderson. Bailey was scheduled to fly to New York on Wednesday evening and be at Belmont Park on Thursday morning.

"Right now we have set no definite date for when Jerry will begin riding races again," said Anderson.

Anderson also confirmed that Bailey will return to Calder on Oct. 23 to accept mounts on the rich Festival of the Sun program, which includes the $400,000 In Reality and My Dear Girl divisions of the Florida Stallion Stakes.
