Bad weather shuts two tracks


Adverse weather conditions stopped racing at two tracks at the beginning of the week.

Turf Paradise canceled racing on Sunday and Monday after the Phoenix area was inundated with approximately two inches of rain.

The $40,000 Cactus Cup will be brought back on the Saturday, March 18, card. Racing at Turf Paradise was scheduled to resume Tuesday.

Racing at at Hawthorne was canceled after one race Monday because of high wind. Gusts of up to 50 miles per hour were reported at O'Hare Airport. A consolation daily double, with first-race winner Robyn's Guarantee and all horses in race 2, paid $5.20.
