Second-year stallions Backtalk and Motovato will stand at the Appleton family’s Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla., for the 2013 breeding season.
Backtalk, a Grade 2 winner, will stand for a fee of $3,000 when the foal stands and nurses. He stood at Vinery Florida in 2012 for a fee of $3,500. Motovato will stand for $2,500 when the foal stands and nurses, after standing at Stonewall Farm Ocala in 2012 for $4,500.
Both stallions were initially to move to the new Sovereign Farm of Ocala for 2013 as part of its introductory roster, but instead relocate to Bridlewood Farm where they will join a roster that includes leading Florida sire Put It Back and new stallion Thunder Moccasin.
Backtalk, a 5-year-old son of Smarty Jones, won the Grade 2 Sanford Stakes and the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes as a juvenile. For his career, Backtalk won four of 15 starts and earned $405,051. He is out of the stakes-winning Affirmed mare Apasionata Sonata and is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Bsharpsonata.
Motovato, a 7-year-old by Proud Citizen out of the stakes-placed Slew City Slew mare Buffalo Bird Woman, won the Grade 3 Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap and four listed stakes races when compiling a record of seven wins in 22 starts and earnings of $398,869.
