VANCOUVER, British Columbia - B R Remark set a track record of 1:09.44 seconds for six furlongs in his 1 3/4-length win over And All That Jazz over a fast track in the $54,441 PNE Presidents Speed at Hastings on Saturday.

With Keveh Nicholls aboard, B R Remark saved ground most of the way before moving out from the rail to make his bid at the top of the stretch. He gradually wore down And All That Jazz, who had led until B R Remark took control in the final sixteenth. Trained by Brian Giesbrecht, B R Remark was sent off as the longest shot in the six-horse field and paid $23.90.

B R Remark was the voted the champion sprinter in British Columbia last year and he might have earned the title again with his convincing win.

And All That Jazz set fast fractions of 21.54 and 44.13 and held on well to finish a clear second in front of Fuhrever Dancing, the 9-5 favorite.

Earlier on the card, Lecturing Lynn, who is trained by Tracy McCarthy, stamped herself as the one to beat in the Grade 3, $125,000 B.C. Breeders' Cup Oaks on Sept. 20 with a one-length win over Blue Sky Holiday in the $51,110 Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Breaking sharply from the rail with Dave Wilson in the irons, Lecturing Lynn was under pressure for the first six furlongs but then drew clear going around the stretch turn. She opened up a 2 1/2-length advantage turning for home and then easily held off Blue Sky Holiday, who made a strong late move.

Lecturing Lynn paid $13.90 to win. Odds-on favorite Dancing Allstar forced the pace before tiring to finish fifth.

Final time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:44.27.
