A B Noodle beats older in Lady Morvich

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Stakes-winning 3-year-old filly A B Noodle ($8) won the $42,720 Lady Morvich Handicap at the Bay Meadows Fair on Saturday in her first race against older.

A B Noodle set the pace in the 1 1/16-mile turf race before Lindsay Jean stuck her head in front inside the eighth pole. A B Noodle then re-rallied to win by a head in 1:43.06.

"She's a hard filly to ride because she wants to use that speed. We're hoping at some point she'll relax more early," winning trainer Chuck Jenda said. "If the pace is insane, I think she'd take back, but if it's moderate, she's more comfortable on the lead."

Winning jockey Jason Lumpkins, who worked hard to get A B Noodle to relax early, said, "Inside the quarter pole, I knew I had a lot of horse. (Chad Schvaneveldt, the rider of Lindsay Jean) had more horse than I thought, but she wouldn't give up."

A B Noodle has won three of six starts and earned $79,560.
