The 20-year-old Royal Academy, winner of the 1990 Breeders' Cup Mile, initially had been scheduled to return to Coolmore's Kentucky division, Ashford Stud, at a fee of $16,000 in 2008. He is a son of Nijinsky out of Crimson Saint.
