Auction Watch 6 for 6 on Philadelphia turf

Auction Watch kept his record intact on the Philadelphia Park turf course, getting up in the final strides to beat El Churruca by a nose in the $75,000 Alphabet Soup Handicap for registered Pennsylvania-breds.

The 2-5 favorite, Auction Watch is now a perfect 6 for 6 on the Philly Park course with the repeat victory in the Alphabet Soup, and it took an all-out effort to keep the streak intact.

El Churruca bounded to the early lead over the course labeled good, with Serene Harbor stalking the pace while Always for Love, the lone mare in the race, ran in third.

Meanwhile, Auction Watch and jockey Kendrick Carmouche dropped to the back of the seven-horse field. Auction Watch remained last as El Churruca dictated the pace through moderate fractions of 24.88 seconds, 50.88, and 1:15.17.

Turning for home, Carmouche asked Auction Watch to kick into gear. He advanced between horses before swinging to the far outside in the lane. El Churruca dug in bravely but Auction Watch was relentless.

The time was 1:45.66 for the 1 1/16 miles.

Trained by Sanna Hendriks for the Augustin Stable, Auction Watch improved to 6 for 16 with all six wins coming on Philadelphia Park turf.

Always for Love got third followed by Saco River, Serene Harbor, White Russian and Delaware River.
