Attila's Storm out of De Francis

Attila's Storm, the fourth-place finisher in last month's Breeders' Cup Sprint, won't be running in Saturday's Grade 1, $300,000 after all.

After moving into the main body of the field from the also-eligible list on Thursday, when one horse was withdrawn, Attila's Storm was scratched from the De Francis on Friday by trainer Richard Schosberg.

According to Schosberg, the 3-year-old Attila's Storm, who would have had to break from post 14 in the six-furlong De Francis, will instead run in the $100,000 Fall Highweight Handicap at Aqueduct on Thanksgiving Day.

The defection of Attilla's Storm allows Gold Cluster to move into the race from the also-eligible list. A 4-year-old, Gold Cluster has won 2 of 6 in allowance company since being claimed by trainer Chris Grove a year ago. He turned in a bullet work at Bowie Training Center last Saturday, working five furlongs in 59 seconds.

"My horse has had one big race we are going off of and if he could run back to that number we might be on the board," said Grove, who saddled Deer Run to a second-place finish in the 2002 De Francis. "I don't have any big dreams of winning it but he is training well."
