Danish Dynaformer hasn't won since capturing the Breeder's Stakes last year at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Maybe someday Woodbine will rename the Grade 3 Singspiel Stakes after Roger Attfield since the Hall of Fame trainer has won six of the 11 runnings of the 12-furlong turf marathon.

In Sunday’s renewal of the $150,000 Singspiel on Queen’s Plate Day, Attfield sends out Danish Dynaformer, who’s winless since his blowout score over this layout last August in the Breeders’ Stakes, the anchor leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Danish Dynaformer is coming off a closing sixth behind Divisidero, World Approval, and Slumber in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic over nine furlongs at Churchill Downs on May 7.

“That race was a little short and a little sharp for him,” Attfield said. “He’s doing great. I was hoping the prep for this race would go, but it didn’t. I think we’re in good shape anyway.”

The Singspiel lured a field of seven and goes as race 8 on a tremendous card.

◗ After looking the part of a winner early in the stretch, he lost a heartbreaker to a charging Shaman Ghost in last year’s Queen’s Plate. He finished second to that rival in the Sovereign Award voting for Canadian champion 3-year-old male.

◗ The veteran prevailed in a win photo in each of the past two editions of the Singspiel for trainer Malcolm Pierce. Eurico Da Silva rode him last year and in his last race, during which he rallied from seventh to win a second-level optional claimer by a half-length June 11. He was in for the $62,500 tag that day, and there were no takers, although someone got cold feet after filling out a claim slip for him.

◗ The Mike Maker-trained shipper from Kentucky landed a second-level optional claimer over 1 3/8 miles at Churchill Downs on May 15. He worked a bullet five-eighths in 59.60 seconds here on Tapeta the other day.

◗ He has been campaigned sporadically since upsetting Magician in the Grade 1 Arlington Million in 2014. He was a nonthreatening eighth last time when returning from a 13-month layoff in a third-level optional claimer at Belmont. Emma-Jayne Wilson, arguably Woodbine’s best turf rider this year, has the mount for trainer Edward Graham, who supplemented him.
