Astrology sires his first stakes winner

Freshman sire Astrology was represented by his first stakes winner on August 3 when the 2-year-old filly Clairvoyant Lady won the $50,125 White Clay Creek Stakes at Delaware Park.

Out of the Shore Breeze mare Chantilly Lady, Clairvoyant Lady won the 5 1/2-furlong race by 1 1/4 lengths over 3-10 favorite You Know Too (by Majesticperfection), with Easy Money (by Into Mischief) third in the six-horse field. She rallied from fifth early to get the lead late to finish the race in 1:05.93.

Clairvoyant Lady went postward at 30-1 and was coming off a win in a $40,000 maiden-claimer at Laurel on July 15. She is owned by Lynch Racing and trained by Cathal Lynch. Bred in Kentucky by Shane Doyle and Kim Doyle, Clairvoyant Lady was purchased by Cal Lynch for $35,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sale April 2-year-olds in training vendue. She has won two of three starts and earned $50,310.

Astrology, by A.P. Indy out of Quiet Eclipse, by Quiet American, stands for $6,500 at Taylor Made Stallions in Nicholasville, Ky. From 84 foals in his first crop, Astrology has 15 starters and five winners through August 3, with progeny earnings of $155,488, putting him seventh on the freshman sire list by earnings. By winners, he is tied for second with three other stallions, one behind co-leaders Shackleford and Algorithms.

Trained by Steve Asmussen and campaigned by Stonestreet Stable and George Bolton, Astrology won three of 12 starts and earned $516,977 while racing from 2 through 4. He won the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes at 2 at Churchill Downs in 2010 and was second or third in five stakes, including a third-place finish behind Shackleford and Animal Kingdom in the Preakness.
