Ashley's Attitude in top form

PORTLAND, Ore. - Ashley's Attitude heads a field of eight older fillies and mares in Friday night's top offering at Portland Meadows, a 5 1/2-furlong test for $3,200 claimers.

Ashley's Attitude, a highly consistent daughter of Jazzing Around, has not been worse than third in 11 starts at the meeting. She is coming off a second-place finish to the streaking Be Still My Heart in the six-furlong second leg of the Cisco Road Filly and Mare Series, which is run under $4,000 starter allowance conditions. Ashley's Attitude, who races for owner Delmer Webb, figures to be favored off that strong effort.

Counselorette is another who is racing in extremely sharp form, having won three of her five starts at the meet. Counselorette is coming back in a week after posting a half-length victory over $3,200 claimers in a 4 1/2-furlong test on April 2. She was claimed out of that race by trainer Nub Norton for his own account.

Also dangerous is Plenty Story, who will be seeking her fourth win at the meeting. Plenty Story, a 4-year-old trained by Ben Root, won under Friday's conditions in January and is coming off a fourth-place finish in the second leg of the Cisco Road Filly and Mare Series on March 26, when she finished six lengths behind Ashley's Attitude.

* Poker Brad will carry high weight of 123 pounds when he attempts to win the Portland Meadows Mile for the second straight time on Saturday.
