Art auction to benefit students

EmailThoroughbred art, including bronzes, oils, watercolors, and woodcarvings, will be sold at a benefit auction in the Tattersalls Sales Arena arena in Lexington, Ky., on Saturday, Oct. 6.

The artwork is being offered by the Harness Tracks of America College Scholarship Fund. They include original work by three of the foremost American horse artists of the 20th century: Robert Dickey, George Ford Morris. and Richard Stone Reeves. Also included are works by England's John Skeaping, Poland's great equine artist Zenon Aniszewski, Russia's architect/artist Svetlana Gadjieva, and Vietnamese ceramist Ngoc Phan.

Featured in the sale are pieces from the estate of Stanley Dancer, the eminent harness horsemen.

The art will be on exhibit in the grandstand of Lexington's Red Mile racetrack from Monday until the sale at Tattersalls, which is to start at 8:30 a.m. Telephone bidding will be available at 520-529-2525. The catalog can be seen at www.elegantequineart.com.
