Arrogate wins the Dubai World Cup last month.

Arrogate once again is rated the world’s best Thoroughbred in the second edition of the 2017 World Thoroughbred Rankings that were released Thursday by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.

Arrogate’s breathtaking Dubai World Cup win earned him a 134 rating, vaulting him in front of the star Australian mare Winx, who remains the second-highest-rated horse in the world – and the highest-rated turf horse – with a rating of 132. The 132 came from Winx’s recent win in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and equals her highest rating from 2016. Arrogate’s rating went up seven points, also hitting his 2016 high, after both horses were rated 127 in the first 2017 edition of the World Thoroughbred Ratings.

Gun Runner (123 for finishing second in the Dubai World Cup), Hartnell (123 for finishing second to Winx in the Queen Elizabeth), and Jack Hobbs (123 for winning the Dubai Turf) share the third-highest rating as determined by the IFHA’s panel of international racing officials.
