Arqana Breeze Up sale catalogs available online

Arqana Bloodstock has cataloged 135 juveniles for its Breeze-Up sale, scheduled for May 11 at Saint-Cloud Racecourse in Saint-Cloud near Paris, France.

The single-session sale begins at 2 p.m. local time. The sale will be preceded by a breeze session held May 10 at  11 a.m. on Saint-Cloud’s turf course.

Arqana unveiled its Breeze-Up Jackpot earlier this year, a sponsorship that will distribute 10 bonuses of 10,000 euros (approximately $12,770) to Breeze-Up sales graduates who win designated domestic maiden races. In addition, Arqana will offer a bonus of 100,000 euros ($127,700) to the first among that group who follows up their maiden win with a win in a listed or group stakes race in 2013.

Last year saw 2011 Breeze-Up alumnus Lucayan become the sale’s first classic winner, as the Turtle Bowl colt won the Group 1 French Two Thousand Guineas. Two 2012 sales graduates also won group stakes as juveniles, Pearl Flute in the Prix des Chenes and Pennsylvania-bred Waterway Run in the Oh So Sharp Stakes, both Group 3 events.

The 2013 sale features juveniles from many top international sires, including Cape Cross, Danehill Dancer, Dubawi, Empire Maker, Galileo, Henrythenavigator, Invincible Spirit, New Approach, Redoute’s Choice, Rock of Gibraltar, and Teofilo. Several U.S.-based sires are also represented, including Arch, the late Bernstein and Dynaformer, Elusive Quality, Hat Trick, and Smart Strike.

Additionally, three 2-year-olds from the first crop of Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner and European Horse of the Year Sea the Stars will be offered at the Breeze-Up sale, the only ones to be sold at such a sale sale in Europe this year.
