STICKNEY, Ill. – Recount, the Arlington-Washington Futurity winner in his most recent start, won’t race again until 2015, trainer Jim DiVito said last week.

Recount had been considered for an Illinois-bred stakes race later in the Hawthorne meet, but DiVito took him out of training and has sent him to a Florida farm for a winter turnout.

DiVito, meanwhile, has unveiled another Illinois-bred of some promise. Jazzy Sun, a 3-year-old son of Jazil, won his debut Sept. 12 over Arlington’s Polytrack and followed that with a decisive dirt-sprint victory Oct. 9 at Hawthorne. DiVito said he plans to start Jazzy Sun once more this meeting.

◗ The jockeys’ standings at this meet are a study in parity, with the top eight riders through the races Oct. 18 having won between five and 11 races. Atop the standings, with 11 wins to nine for Tim Thornton, is Manny Esquivel, who won with five of his first 10 mounts, went cold, but has regained some momentum the last week.
