Gleam of Hope is the morning-line favorite in Thursday's fifth race.

One allowance race, the fifth of nine, serves as the highlight of the Thursday program at Arlington Park. Gleam of Hope, dropping sharply in class for trainer Mike Stidham when in for a $40,000 claiming option, is the morning-line favorite among the 10 3-year-olds and upward in the lineup.

Other considerations in the $44,000, second-level allowance, which goes at 1 1/16 miles on the Poly, include Color Me Blue, Keep Up, Cool C Note, and Gallant Eagle.

Gallant Eagle, in search of a third straight victory, is trained by the former longtime Baffert assistant, John Good, who brings a nifty meet mark of 3 for 7 into this race.

First post is the usual 1 p.m. Central.

◗ Heading into this race week, Francisco Torres continues to cling to a slim lead atop the jockey standings. Through Sunday, Torres had 71 wins, followed by Jimmy Graham with 68. The meet runs through Sept. 30.
