Arlington Park: My Option scores open win in Grade 3 Oaks

My Option made a successful venture outside of restricted company Saturday when driving to victory under Eddie Perez in the 33rd running of the Grade 3, $150,000 Arlington Park Oaks at Arlington Park.

Trained by Chris Block for owner-breeder Timothy Keeley, My Option held off 12-1 shot Frivolous to win the 1 1/8-mile Polytrack race by a neck. The winner returned $7 as second choice in a field of six 3-year-old fillies after finishing in 1:52.85.

“I’ve got to give a lot of credit to the filly and Eddie,” said Block. “They fit together pretty well.”

Sky Girl, the 2-1 favorite, forced all the pace before yielding late, another 2 1/4 lengths behind the runner-up.

My Option, a gray Illinois-bred by Belong to Me, now has 4 wins and 2 seconds from 6 career starts. She won a restricted stakes at Hawthorne in her seasonal debut in April before finishing second as the Purple Violet at Arlington prior to the Arlington Oaks.

The $2 exacta (3-2) paid $65.40; the $1 trifecta (3-2-6) returned $99.40; and the 10-cent superfecta (3-2-6-7) was worth $49.42.
