Arlington Park: Marketing Mix has options at Woodbine and Santa Anita
By Marty McGee
Email
Marketing Mix, beaten just a head in the Beverly D. on Saturday at Arlington Park, came out of the race in terrific shape and could run next in the Grade 2 Canadian at Woodbine on Sept. 16 or the newly named Grade 1 Rodeo Drive (formerly the Yellow Ribbon) on Sept. 29 at Santa Anita, said trainer Tom Proctor.
"Then there's the turf race in the Breeders' Cup, but that's the last thing I'm going to worry about right now," he said.
Proctor, who was at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., on Wednesday before heading for Del Mar the following day, said he was extremely pleased with the way Marketing Mix ran. "They just get beat sometimes," he said.
Marketing Mix will continue to train at Arlington for the foreseeable future, said Proctor.
Best Bets
AQUINNAH returns to a route and she couldn't have found a much better spot as a horse who wants to be involved early, as the expected pace scenario figures to favor those runners with a little early zip and she appears to be quickest of them all out of the gate; should control the tempo, and that should lead to her running to her best figures. CHARMINGMEGAN has tactical speed and likes to win, a combination that makes her easy to like; should get first run at the top pick.
