Arkansas Racing Commission changes Lasix administration rule

The Arkansas Racing Commission has passed a new rule concerning administration of the diuretic Lasix, and it will go into effect for the upcoming season at Oaklawn Park. The new rule calls for all raceday Lasix shots to be given by the veterinary staff members of the commission. In the past, private racetrack practitioners had administered raceday Lasix.

“We’ll be doing it this race meet, starting Jan. 9,” said Ron Oliver, director of the commission.

Oliver said the new rule is an RCI model rule.
