Are You Serious ships in

The Pennsylvania-based Are You Serious, a winner in each of his last two road trips to West Virginia, returns to Charles Town for the $100,000 Wild and Wonderful West Virginia at seven furlongs.

A 6-year-old trained by Todd Beattie, Are You Serious has been off since posting a career-best 105 Beyer Speed Figure winning the $95,000 Harvey Arneault Memorial at Mountaineer Racetrack on Aug. 2. He cruised by two lengths as the odds-on favorite over a sloppy track in his only previous visit to Charles Town in April.

The chief threats to Are You Serious look like horse-for-the-course P. Kerney and Eddie C.

P. Kerney, who finished two lengths behind Are You Serious in the Arneault after sticking his head in front at the eighth pole, has 3 wins and a second in 4 starts locally.

Eddie C. has been in front or within two lengths of the lead at the stretch call in six of his last seven races, all at slightly longer distances than seven furlongs.
