Arc de Triomphe post moved up

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe will have an earlier post time this year, 5:30 p.m. in Paris. That translates into 11:30 a.m. Eastern, meaning that the race will be more readily available for betting in the United States, should tracks around the country be willing to accept wagers on the event.

In the past the Arc's early post of 4:20 p.m. French time (10:20 a.m. Eastern) made betting on the race unfeasible for most American tracks, even those on the East Coast.

The move by France Galop, French racing's governing body, is part of an attempt to give Arc Day a Breeders' Cup-like makeover, with the day's feature race in a climactic position. The eight-race Longchamp card will feature six Group 1 contests on Oct. 7. In addition to the Arc, the card includes the Prix du Cadran, the Prix de l'Opera, the Prix de l'Abbaye, the Prix Marcel Boussac, the Grand Criterium, all Group 1's.
