Arapahoe: Streakin’ Mohican pays quick dividends on claim in Arapahoe Sprint

Streakin’ Mohican, who was a $32,000 claim in April, became a stakes winner in his first start for his new connections on Sunday, when he dominated the $40,000 Arapahoe Park Sprint.

He won by four lengths over No It Aint, while it was another three lengths back in third to Pack Your Bags.

Streakin’ Mohican ($4) led the field throughout in the six-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up, setting fractions of 21.65 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.07 for the half-mile. He jetted home clear of his rivals, covering the distance on a track rated fast in 1:08.53.

Travis Wales rode the winner for Robert Rosette and trainer Bill Brashears.

Rosette claimed Streakin’ Mohican at Betfair Hollywood Park one start prior to the Arapahoe Park Sprint. The horse won that day, with one of his best Beyer Figures, a 97. Streakin’ Mohican had placed in three stakes earlier in his career.
