Arapahoe Park: New Mexico shipper looks tough in Molly Brown
Email
Came West can help move her jockey, Isaias Enriquez, closer to a career milestone Sunday if she wins the $40,000 Molly Brown for fillies and mares at Arapahoe Park. Enriquez through Thursday was at 997 Thoroughbred wins. He is in from New Mexico to ride Came West, the winner of the $50,000 First Lady at Ruidoso Downs in her last start May 27.
Enriquez was aboard for the win, for which Came West rallied from off the pace to earn a Beyer Figure of 76. The number is the best last-race Beyer in the Molly Brown, which will be run at six furlongs. Enriquez, who began his career in 1990, has the mount for owner-trainer Karl Pergola.
◗ Jockey Jansen Melancon won four races Thursday at Louisiana Downs, including the opener with Kia’s Intimadator($41.40). Melancon is the son of jockey Gerard Melancon.
Best Bets
LOVE TO RUN was rarin' to go first out in two months, so much so that he rocketed through a six-furlong split of 1:08.79 seconds - faster than Cross Traffic in the Westchester at the same one-mile distance a few days earlier; back-to-back Belmont wins last year included one rallying from next-to-last, so he may make good use of outside draw to track COLIZEO. The latter drops to same second-level condition where he won big first off R-Rod claim; reunited with Jose Ortiz, who was aboard for that score on wet track.
