Arapahoe Park: Mythical Power tops Arapahoe Park Sprint

Mythical Power and Streakin’ Mohican, who were each claimed last out in Southern California, meet in Colorado on Sunday for the $40,000 Arapahoe Park Sprint. They are part of an 11-horse field for the six-furlong race that also includes horses who last raced at Woodbine, Turf Paradise, and Prairie Meadows.

Mythical Power, a 6-year-old who earlier in his career won both the Grade 3 Lone Star Park Derby and Grade 3 Texas Mile, was making his first start in about a year last out at Betfair Hollywood Park and was taken for $12,500 by owner-trainer Kevin Eikleberry. Mythical Power finished second in the six-furlong sprint that went in a quick 1:09.80 on May 12 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 86.

Mythical Power sprinted some during his career, and in February 2011 was third, beaten three-quarters of a length by Smiling Tiger, in the Grade 2 San Carlos at Santa Anita.

Streakin’ Mohican, who has placed in three stakes during his career, was a $32,000 claim out of a six-furlong turf sprint at Hollywood Park on April 28. He won the race by more than five lengths and earned one of his best Beyers, a 97. Streakin’ Mohican now races for Robert Rousette and is trained by Bill Brashears.

Do You Believe It last raced at Woodbine and was fifth in a first-level allowance sprint Oct. 22. Pack Your Bags was fourth in a $23,000 claiming sprint at Prairie Meadows in his last start April 29. Two Violins was fourth last out in a $20,000 optional claimer at Turf Paradise.
