Arapahoe Park: Former claimer Teapartysuccess takes George Wafer Memorial Stakes

Teapartysuccess, a former claiming horse who began her career in California, became a stakes winner in Colorado on Sunday, when she edged Sweet Dixie Van by a neck in the $40,000 George Wafer Memorial for 3-year-old  fillies at Arapahoe Park. It was another 4 1/4 lengths back in third to Nena’s Niner.

Teapartysuccess ($24.60) trailed early as Perfect Finesse led the field through fractions of 22.68 45.15 seconds. Teapartysuccess advanced on the turn and closed fast to catch leader Sweet Dixie Van. The winner covered the distance on a track rated fast in 1:24.74.

Jose Barajas rode the winner for owner-trainer Shawn Davis.

Teapartysuccess began her career at Golden Gate Fields, and was claimed out of a race there for $8,000. She went on to finish second in two allowances, between Turf Paradise and Arapahoe, before winning the George Wafer Memorial. Her record now stands at 3 wins in 11 starts for earnings of $57,355.
