Arapahoe: Ingrid Knotts lineup mostly returning from long layoffs

Email

Most of the fillies and mares running in the $35,000 Ingrid Knotts at Arapahoe Park on Saturday face the same obstacle – the race will be their first start back following a long layoff. In all, a field of six will go in the six-furlong stakes that is restricted to horses bred in Colorado.

Sorta Special won last year’s Ingrid Knotts off the bench. She led throughout in her first start in 9 1/2 months, and will be returning from a layoff of similar length on Saturday as she last raced on Sept. 1. Sorta Special shows some forward works for her return for trainer W. Monk Hall, who has gone 4 for 7 with his starters at the young meet at Arapahoe.

Luis Rodriguez has the mount from post 5. Sorta Special, who also won last year’s Spicy Stakes at Arapahoe, is owned by Lynda Hall.
Sweet Dixie Van, the runner-up to Sorta Special in last year’s Ingrid Knotts and Spicy, will be making her first start since August. Travis Wales has the mount for Bill Vanlandingham and trainer Tyrone Gleason.

Lucy Loves Diamonds is the lone horse in the field with a start this year, having run fifth as the favorite in a maiden special weight at Arapahoe on May 27. She is a half-sister to Big Mission, a past winner of the Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe.
