My Wandy’s Girl, runner-up as the favorite in the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie Handicap on Feb. 16, will make her next start in the Grade 2, $250,000 Ruffian Handicap at one mile on the Wood Memorial undercard April 6, Hushion said.
My Wandy’s Girl was beaten three-quarters of a length by longshot winner Funnys Approval in the Barbara Fritchie, her first start since Nov. 24.
“That was fine, there was no pressure on her to run her A-plus race,” Hushion said. “Hopefully, she’ll do that in a more serious race, but I thought it was fine. She ran like a horse that wanted to go farther, she was pretty steady the last eighth of a mile when she could have given it up.”
Hushion said Nicole H, who finished a disappointing fourth in the Barbara Fritchie, will point to the Grade 2, $200,000 Distaff Handicap at six furlongs at Aqueduct on April 13. Nicole H won the Distaff in 2011.
“Her race was disappointing. I thought she’d run better,” Hushion said about the Barbara Fritchie. “Nothing showed up on her. She’s allowed to throw a little bit of a clunker once in a while. We’ll forgive her.”

A super runner-up comeback by TRIBAL CHATTER stamps the maiden filly as the most probable winner on the card. Returning from a 10-month layoff, she finished nearly nine lengths clear of third in a highly rated maiden-40. Now meets an apparently modest cast of state-bred special-weights, and switches to turf. No problem. She was sired by all-surface stallion Tribal Rule; her dam produced California Cup Mile (turf) winner Swift Winds. Blinkers on, speed for a pressing trip, pick-six single first leg of the sequence.
