Aqueduct: Marc's Rainbow upsets

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Marc's Rainbow outfooted 1-2 favorite Beautiful America to the front around the clubhouse turn, then withstood several challenges from that rival to win Sunday's $80,775 East View Stakes for New York-bred juvenile fillies by 2 3/4 lengths.

Under Richard Migliore, Marc's Rainbow cut out fractions of 23.44 seconds, 47.36, 1:12.49, and 1:39.53 before stopping the timer in 1:46.64 for 1 1/16 miles over a fast inner track. Marc's Rainbow, owned and bred by Albert Fried and trained by Todd Pletcher, returned $9.60 as the third choice in the field of six. Pletcher also trained the third-place finisher, Combanchera.

It was the first loss against females for Beautiful America, who was coming off stakes victories in the Joseph A. Gimma, Maid of the Mist, and a division of the New York Stallion Stakes.
