OZONE PARK, N.Y. - While her Grade 1 Hopeful winner Currency Swap is recovering from an ankle injury, trainer Terri Pompay appears to have another 2-year-old colt who bears watching. Managed Account, in his first start beyond six furlongs, rallied from fifth to win Sunday’s $75,000 Toccet Stakes by a neck over Launch Commander. Managed Account ran a mile in 1:35.70 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 84. Managed Account, a daughter of Malibu Moon out of the Grade 1 winning mare Catinca, is now 2 for 4. “We thought he’d like the distance – he’s been crying out to go a little longer,” said Pompay, who trains Managed Account for Seth Klarman and William Lawrence, the same owners of Currency Swap. “He always comes running late. [Sunday], he was a little closer than I thought he’d be.” Pompay said that Managed Account would ship to Gulfstream by next week, but could return for the Grade 2, $200,000 Remsen here at 1 1/8 miles on Nov. 26. The Toccet replaced the Nashua as the prep for the Remsen. The Nashua was moved to the Belmont fall meeting and shortened up to six furlongs.
