Aqueduct, Finger Lakes cancel Wednesday cards

Email

Aqueduct and Finger Lakes have both canceled their Wednesday cards because of inclement weather.

Aqueduct canceled its nine-race card due to rain and high winds. Both Aqueduct and Belmont were scheduled to be open for simulcasting.

It was the second straight live racing card canceled at Aqueduct as Sunday’s card was scrapped due to high winds.

Over an inch of rain had fallen in the area overnight, and up to another inch was possible throughout Wednesday. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour were forecast with gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

Though wind could still be an issue, racing is expected to resume Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, with a nine-race card that gets underway at 11:25 a.m. and features the 100th running of the Fall Highweight Handicap.

First post for 10-race cards on both Friday and Saturday is noon.

Finger Lakes called off its nine-race card after an overnight snowstorm. Live racing is scheduled to resume on Friday with a 12:15 p.m. post time for the first race. Simulcast wagering and gaming floor operations remain open as normal.

Make sure you spend $7.50 on the drf the day before, only to find out they cancel the next morning. Why don't these momos tell us of cancellations the day before? I mean, aren't they cancelling purely because of weather forecasts? They come out days in advance.

37 degrees raining 20 mph winds and they are running at laurel. why doesnt anyone from drf call out nyra and their new ceo . I could run nyra better then the fools running it

By their canceling logic, you can rule out racing tomorrow at Aqu. Winds are forecasted higher. And it is Thanksgiving where not many people would go anyways. Whatever you do, don't waste time handicapping Aqu tomorrow.

And Laurel and Penn National are such depressing alternatives to not having Aqu.

Do we get a refund if we bought the drf advanced specifically for Aqu?
Larry Kaufman More than 1 year ago
if drf had to refund money then maybe they would write about what a joke nyra is

Good Luck with that, I purchased 10 card plan that was valid until April 30 and please tell me why on April 30th I no longer had my 8 available cards left. I emailed Drf and not a single response.

nyra is so screwed up since the casino opened, they would never canceled on a day like today before the casinos. where are these 50 mph winds. that is the problem they close because of a forecast which is wrong most of the time, not the actual weather. In the 70s and 80s they would never close unless there was a blizzard. if it wasnt for the casino and saratoga nyra would be done.

Sunday the winds were very strong- Today not so much but the main track received a lot of rain & the low will be 29 tonight. I assume they want to work on the track today so they have a safe track for Thursday through Sunday. The scratches would have been plentiful today & total handle under 4 million.
