OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Jockey Ramon Dominguez won five races Wednesday at Aqueduct, four of those winners coming in a pick-six sequence that returned $7,970. Dominguez, the two-time defending Eclipse Award-winning rider, went 5 for 8 on the nine-race card. His five-win day came five days after Junior Alvarado went 5 for 7 here last Friday. Dominguez had won four races on a single card three previous occasions this winter, and on Dec. 14-15 set a New York Racing Association record by riding seven consecutive winners. Wednesday, Dominguez won the first in a photo aboard Fiscal Stimulus ($7.40) and the fourth on What’s the Record ($3.20). After finishing fourth in the sixth on Ellipse, Dominguez swept the final three races with Coosada ($23.20), the eighth on Midnight Visit ($8.20) and the finale on Nolita ($4.20). Dominguez has won five races on several occasions in New York, the last time coming last Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving Day), his 35th birthday Wednesday’s five-win afternoon helped Dominguez open up a 73-64 lead in the rider standings on Cornelio Velasquez. Dominguez has won the last four Aqueduct inner-track riding titles. There were 15 winning tickets sold on Wednesday’s pick six, which began with a $36,518 carryover and had an additional $145,692 wagered into the pool. In between the four Dominguez victories, Alan Garcia won the other two legs of the pick six with Bail Out the Banks ($12) and Papa’s Nice Cat ($5.70). The winning pick-six sequence was 3-5-4-9-6-4.
