Aqueduct cancels Thursday card

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Thursday's live racing program at Aqueduct was canceled because of snow that began falling around 9 a.m. The track remained open for simulcasting.

Since Jan. 1, Aqueduct has canceled three full cards and two partial cards because of bad weather. One of those full cards was made up two days later, a day that Aqueduct was originally scheduled to be dark.

A clearing and warming trend is expected in New York this weekend. Aqueduct's main track opening on March 14 - two days later than originally scheduled - will be dependent upon a break in the foul weather. NYRA's track superintendent, Jerry Porcelli, has said he needs a stretch of good weather to get the main track in working order.
