Aqueduct cancels Friday, Saturday cards

Friday's live race card at Aqueduct was cancelled following the first race because of track conditions. NYRA later announced that racing for Saturday was also cancelled.

"Rather than risk disappointing our fans for a third consecutive day, we thought it would be in the best interests of our fans and horsemen to cancel tomorrow's races," said NYRA President and COO Terry Meyocks.

"With this run of particularly bad weather, (track superintendent) Jerry Porcelli and his crew will have additional time to work on the racetrack."

Aqueduct will be open for simulcasting on Saturday, with free admission and free general parking. There will also be free grandstand and free clubhouse admission, as well as free general parking when racing resumes on Sunday, March 9th, with a 10-race card. First race post is 12:30 p.m.

A makeup date for the $75,000 Stymie Handicap for three-year-olds and up at nine furlongs, originally scheduled to be run on Saturday, has not yet been determined.
