OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Caixa Eletronica, who rolled to a 4 3/4-length victory in Sunday’s $75,000 Rise Jim Stakes, will be under strong consideration for the Grade 3, $150,000 Toboggan Stakes here on Feb. 4.

Caixa Eletronica overcame a bit of a wide trip to win the Toboggan rather convincingly under Cornelio Velasquez. He ran six furlongs in 1:11.04 and earned a 101 Beyer Speed Figure.

Though six furlongs is probably not Caixa Eletronica’s best distance, he appears to be returning to the form he displayed last spring and summer when he won the Grade 3 Westchester at Aqueduct and two starter handicaps at Saratoga.

“It was just a case he’s starting to get good at the right time,” Michael McCarthy, assistant trainer to Todd Pletcher said. “We look forward to trying to keep him good.”

If Caixa Eletronica does run in the Toboggan, he likely will do so with stablemate Calibrachoa, who won the Toboggan last year. Both horses are owned by Mike Repole.
