Aqueduct: Arthur’s Tale nears return to racing

Arthur's Tale is being pointed to an overnight stakes at Aqueduct on April 15.

Arthur’s Tale, runner-up in the 2011 Wood Memorial, worked six furlongs in 1:14.63 on Thursday over Belmont’s training track and is nearing his 4-year-old debut, trainer Tom Albertrani said.

Arthur’s Tale was beaten a neck by Toby’s Corner in last year’s Wood Memorial, but came out of the race with a shin injury that knocked him out of the Triple Crown series.

He returned in the fall with a fourth-place finish in the Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing and the Discovery at Aqueduct.

Albertrani said he had hoped to run Arthur’s Tale in Florida, but missed some time due to some “minor issues.”

Albertrani is pointing Arthur’s Tale to an overnight stakes at Aqueduct on April 15.

“Hopefully, he’ll come back with the kind of race he ran in the Wood,” Albertrani said. “We were unlucky not to win the race; Ramon [Dominguez] had to check him twice.”
