OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Thanks in large part to the highest-priced winner on the New York Racing Association circuit in nearly 14 years, there will be a pick-six carryover of $99,787 into Sunday’s card at Aqueduct.
The Sunday sequence will begin with race 4 (1:54 p.m. Eastern) and include the $75,000 Cat Cay Stakes.
There was a $20,827 carryover entering Saturday’s card and an additional $138,579 was wagered into the pool.
Virtually - but not all - tickets were dead after the first leg when Firstbellathenkk, a 114-1 shot, went gate to wire under Julissa Laredo to win and return $230. According to New York Racing Association records, that was the highest-priced winner since Barrier Free returned $338 on Feb. 6, 1999. The carryover was secured after Humorus Dilemma ($20.40) won the sixth race

NO NAY NEVER didn't break all that well in his debut but he moved up smoothly to make the lead after about 100 yards, and after he withstood a stretch challenge from the eventual runner-up he won while virtually in hand; trainer Wesley Ward is lethal with 2-year-olds and this colt figures very tough here with an effort as good as that first one. SWEET EMMA ROSE, an uncoupled stablemate of the top pick, meets males but she's clearly a threat off that debut romp; barn seems to hold all the aces.
