April's Lucky Boy wins Osage Hills


April's Lucky Boy picked up the fourth stakes win of his career on Saturday, when he rallied for a length and a quarter win in the $40,000 Osage Hills for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park.

Notable Okie rallied from last for second, while it was another half-length back in third to Ranger B.

April's Lucky Boy ($8.40) stalked a hot pace set by Ranger B., Temptation Eyes and Oklahoma Natural, who dueled through an opening quarter in 20.94 seconds, and a half-mile in 44.13. April's Lucky Boy overtook the leaders in the stretch, and went on to cover five furlongs on firm turf in 56.23.

Kevin Cogburn rode the winner for trainer Donnie Von Hemel.

April's Lucky Boy earned $23,500 for the win, which was his eighth in 41 starts. He has earned $269,253 and races for Kelly Thiesing.
