Appealing Zophie to Delta Princess

Appealing Zophie, winner of the Grade 1, $250,000 Spinaway in September, will make her next start in the $300,000 Delta Princess at Delta Downs on Dec. 1, said her trainer, Scott Blasi. In her most recent start, Appealing Zophie was fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4.

Blasi said the timing of the Delta Princess, a one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies, works well for Appealing Zophie.

"It gives her four weeks between the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and the race there," he said from Churchill Downs. "It's very good timing for her, for a lot of money."

Blasi said Appealing Zophie was shipped to Fair Grounds on Nov. 21 after working five furlongs in 1:01.60 at Churchill on Nov. 20. She will have her final work for the Delta Princess at Fair Grounds on Monday, he said. Entries for the race are being taken Tuesday.

Blasi also said he plans to run Scatter the Tak in the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Jackpot for 2-year-olds on Dec. 1. Third in the Grade 3 Grey Breeders' Cup at Woodbine in October, Scatter the Tak also shipped to the Fair Grounds on Nov. 21.

* Jockey Sidney LeJeune Jr. was five wins shy of his 1,000th career victory going into the races Wednesday night.
