Another seven-figure sale horse

Email

The Keeneland September yearling sale in Lexington, Ky., threw off another seven-figure horse on Saturday as the 14-day auction resumed after a day's break.

Buzz Chace, agent, went to $1.1 million to purchase a son of Distorted Humor and the stakes-producing A. P. Indy mare Weekend in Indy. The colt is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Bohemian Lady. The Taylor Made agency sold the colt, who was the day's highest-priced lot as of 5 p.m.

It was the second time a Distorted Humor colt had led selling at a session, following Jess Jackson's $900,000 purchase of a Distorted Humor-Barnie Fife colt from Warrendale Sales, agent, to top the Thursday session.

Jackson was still an active buyer on Saturday, with purchases including a $550,000 Buddha-Call Your Beau colt from Peter O'Callaghan's Woods Edge Farm agency; a $450,000 Holy Bull-Sister Baby colt from Gracefield; a $375,000 Forestry-Summerwood filly from the Taylor Made agency; and a $250,000 Dixie Union-Wacky Becky filly, also from the Taylor Made consignment.

The sale was to continue through Sept. 26 with sessions beginning at 10 a.m daily.
