Another Lovelysong tries tougher

EDMONTON, Alberta - Another Lovelysong, a Washington-bred from trainer Greg Tracy's stable, steps up from a $7,500 claiming victory to take on five other 3-year-old fillies here Sunday afternoon. The optional $32,000 claiming feature is the seventh of eight races on the final card before Thursday's opening of Klondike Days.

Another Lovelysong won her seasonal debut here July 2, sprinting 6 1/2 furlongs. It was her first race since a winter campaign at Turf Paradise. Real Simard has the return mount on Another Lovelysong.

Trainer Rod Haynes will send out the uncoupled pair of Madlyn Elise, who drew the rail, and Wintuition. Madlyn Elise was third in her last race, an allowance. Rickey Walcott picks up the mount. Wintuition ran seventh in her last start on June 25, finishing behind Sunday opponent Jewel Queen, who was fourth.

Jewel Queen won her maiden at Stampede Park May 2 and subsequently finished fourth in the six-furlong Mount Royal Handicap May 16. Perry Winters retains the mount.

Deputy War Child scored her maiden win this spring in Calgary. She ran unplaced in her first stakes appearance in the Chariot Chaser two weeks ago.

Executive Time has won two races this year. She finished in the top three in two stakes tries last year.

* There will be three stakes on the opening weekend of Klondike Days: the John Patrick Handicap for fillies and mares Friday; the Ky Alta, a stepping-stone to the $250,000 Canadian Derby, on Saturday; and the Northlands Oaks for 3-year-old fillies on Sunday.
