Another Audible tests males

Another Audible will take on her toughest task to date when she faces males going 4 1/2 furlongs in the $15,000 Speed Stakes at Nebraska State Fair Park in Lincoln.

Another Audible, trained by Milton Gaede, has been nearly unbeatable this year. A 4-year-old daughter of Menifee, she was originally purchased from the OBS April 2005 auction for $210,000. Gaede picked her up for considerably less and brought her to Nebraska for her career debut on Feb. 9 at Fonner Park.

She won that race by 12 lengths going away. Skipping an entry-level allowance condition, Another Audible shortened stride when second in her next start but has since won three straight allowance races by a combined 26 lengths.

The speed-laden field in this race will provide Another Audible the potential to be headed for the first time in her career. She has never trailed after the opening eighth of a mile and has opened up by as much as 15 lengths after a half-mile.

Classy Sheikh appears the only one classy enough to show the speed and stamina to stay with Another Audible. Trained by David Anderson, Classy Sheikh went unraced in 2006 and came back this year with a pair of seconds, including a good effort against Tonight Rainbow in the Grasmick at Fonner.
