Annual TCA stallion season auction to be held in January

Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) will host its 25th annual stallion season auction from Jan. 5 through Jan. 10, 2015, with bids accepted via telephone and online.

The majority of TCA’s seasons will be offered during the telephone and online auction. Online bidding will open at 9 a.m. Eastern on Jan. 5 and continue through 5 p.m. on Jan. 9. Telephone bids will be accepted on Jan. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interested bidders may register to bid by visiting TCA's website.

The fundraiser will culminate with a 25th anniversary celebration and live select stallion season auction, featuring 10 to 15 additional seasons, on Jan. 10 at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Ky. Live and silent auction items that evening will also feature lots such as a Triple Crown ticket package, other trips, and a John Deere utility vehicle.

“We are thrilled to be entering our 25th year of helping horses and people in the Thoroughbred racing industry,” TCA executive director Erin Crady said. “The auction is our largest annual fundraiser and enables us to grant funds to qualified non-profit organizations each year. The auction is only possible because of the support of our donors, sponsors, bidders and advertisers and for that we are deeply appreciative.”

In 2014, TCA granted over $512,000 to more than 74 charities working within Thoroughbred rescue, retirement and adoption, backstretch and farm worker services, research and therapeutic riding.
