Anna Pavlova right back

Anna Pavlova will be wheeled back on just five days' rest from one Group 2 to another when she challenges males in the $198,000 Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.

Anna Pavlova, a 5-year-old daughter of Danehill Dancer who was the 3 1/4-length winner of the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock Park on Saturday, will be tested at the same 1 1/2 miles in the Princess of Wales, which will be run on Newmarket's July Course.

Trainer Richard Fahey has expressed some concern about running her on such short notice but cannot resist taking advantage of the soft ground at Newmarket. Moreover, this will be Anna Pavlova's third race in 13 days, as she had previously finished third in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes on June 28. Jamie Moriarity, who rode her in the Pretty Polly, takes back the reins from her Lancashire Oaks jockey, Paul Hanagan.

Defending titleholder Papal Bull will start the favorite off a seasonal debut in which he was 2 1/2 lengths fourth behind Soldier of Fortune in the 1 1/2-mile Coronation Cup. Sagara, third in last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, looks to get back on track after a pair of unplaced efforts. The same is true for the St. Leger winner, Lucarno, who should appreciate the soft going.
